Last updated 3 November 2026 · applies to Gaugewell for iPhone and Mac
What Gaugewell reads
Battery level and charging state, storage capacity and free space, memory and CPU use, network interface byte counters and local IP addresses, thermal state, Low Power Mode, uptime and the device model. On Mac it also reads battery health, cycle count, voltage and power draw, disk read and write counters, and load average. All of it is read with Apple's public system interfaces and processed on your device.
What Gaugewell stores
History samples (battery level, free space), daily data-use totals, your data plan, settings, coin balance and whether a purchase is active. They are kept in the app's own storage on your device and, on iPhone, in an app group shared only with Gaugewell's widgets. Deleting the app deletes them. Nothing is synced or uploaded.
Ads (iPhone only)
Gaugewell for iPhone shows full-screen ads at natural breaks and optional rewarded video ads, served by Google AdMob. Where the law requires it, you are first asked for consent through Google's consent message; you can change your choice at any time in Settings › Ad privacy choices. Then iOS asks whether Gaugewell may track you.
- If you allow tracking, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to show more relevant ads and measure them.
- If you don't, ads are not personalised and the identifier is not shared.
- Either way, AdMob may infer an approximate location from your IP address and collect diagnostic data about ad delivery, such as whether an ad loaded.
Google's handling of this data is described at policies.google.com/privacy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Buying "Remove ads" stops all ads and ad requests.
Purchases
"Remove ads" (iPhone) and "Gaugewell Pro" (Mac) are one-time purchases made through Apple. Apple handles payment; Gaugewell only learns from Apple's StoreKit whether the purchase is active. We never see your payment details or Apple Account.
Permissions
Gaugewell asks for no special permissions. On iPhone, iOS may ask about tracking for ads, as described above. The Mac app runs in Apple's App Sandbox and uses the network only to talk to the App Store about purchases.
Children
Gaugewell is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
